Default Siezed 2 pots

I know it happens often ect but.....

I bought a 2nd hand set of front calipers a mont ago and they've now got a sticky piston Thing that surprises me is its the same side thats sticking?? (drivers side) Is it coincidence or some other problem??

Any help would be great, i will eventually go for bigger brakes, but right now my only option is to just replace these and hope they last for a few months. Its a 1995 wrx ra if it helps

Cheers

Another Scunny lad? That makes FOUR on here now. I always said it was "centre o't universe"

Tried removing the pad from the side that is stuck, then pumping the brake. It usually forces the stuck pad out.

Godspeed will sell you a caliper refurb kit.

Hi Alcazar

Yeah theres a few knocking about Scungy Scunny Ozzy_B (i think thats his username) is a good friend of mine He has a Black classic V5. Im from just outside Scunny, Belton if you've heard of it? Ive been on here a small while and already learnt all the woes of ownership

Would pumping them out pushing em back in a few times possibly cure them? I have tried it before on the old calipers and no joy, could they need bleeding possibly?

Mine just stick and push the pads into the disk Ill pull up to a junction and wont need to use the handbrake ect

Cheers MIAMI that will help me out loads if i end up refurbing

If the pads are sticking, it's pretty sure that they need refurbing. Give Ian a bell at Godspeed, he'll sort you with a caliper refurb kit, then, if you can change a caliper, you can refurb one.

Do I know Belton? We're at the Crown most thursdays pub-quizzing. Do you know Max Foster?

Me and Ozzy_B went to school together.

Small small world ha, not heard of him but have certainly been in the Crown. What scoob do you drive, ill have to keep an eye out.

Ive emailed the guy on the link you provided, roughly how much do you think they will be? Got the chance to buy another working set for £40 may buy em and refurb what i have spare??

Was just a random thought on the bleeding part, theyre doing my head in though cant wait to get some brembos or ksports ect

I'd refurb the ones you have, and put the £40 towards some 4-pots off a 99 onwards UK car. Ian also sells a kit to allow those to use much bigger discs too

Mine is a 559 Bright Red 98 UK car, now with 2.5 litres, bigger turbo, FMIC and 740 cc injectors.

Still running it in, but it ought to make over 400 once it's had it's final map.
You're unlikely to see it at the Crown, though, we go out with mates, alternate weeks driving, and she usually drives back..........I'd rather she drove the Xantia, tbh

Yeah seen those bigger disk kits, they look brilliant, the old 4 pots fetch a premium though

Ill go for the refurb kit then seen as i also spent 2 days stripping the paint of these ones and repainting them , also car is off the road till i sort its back lights out seen as it hasnt got any lol so i have plenty of time.

Sounds a beast, must remember not to play with any red UK's in Scunny! I want mine up at that power eventually, had a 2.1 conversion at scoobyclinic over christmas and its currently running low 300's @1bar needs an AVC-R on it to up the boost to about 1.3-1.4bar.

What gearbox you running?
