Guys, I'm thinking about a custome induction kit to sit behind fog light (removed) on my05 WRX but I need to know how do you reset the maf after and is that all I need to do or will I def need it mapping?

Doesn't sound too good to me, surely it's gonna suck up water off the road, maybe fmic and wing mounted air filter, iv seen that before. Either way I think a newage need mapping for induction kit. Someone will gave to confirm this for you

Yeah maybe not? Was thinking wing mounted with a cold air feed from fog light, might go down that route? Either that or remove resonator pipe and feed air from fog light to standard air box? I wish I could afford a fmic

Best to get some more opinions from people, if you need to remap then I'd probley say get a load of bits decat, fuel pump air filter and such all fitted at the same time to save any tweeking later on it'll be cheaper on the long run.

As has already been said the best thing you could do with this idea is to forget about it. There is no worthwhile gain in ditching the standard newage induction tract unless your car is already north of 350-400bhp or so. As such your plan has a number of downsides but no upside.

Induction kit made a noticeable difference to my STI8 PPP, however as indicated:
1) It IS faff!
2) Re-scaling the MAF is not a trivial matter and by itself is not good enough as it only works for closed loop fueling. When you're going fast enough to scale the MAF further up the voltage range you'll be on open loop fueling so it won't do anything for the AFRs then. Instead you have to remap the AFRs and possibly pull some timing.
3) I've done lot's of other stuff that helps
I did it just because I'm a nerd and can't leave well enough alone. I'd overclock the ECU if I thought there was a way....

speak to your mapper to see whether he/she feels it is worthwhile. If you have had it mapped already then it wouldnt be a full remap (and remap cost I would hope) to tweak for it.
If you still have the standard td04 turbo then I would say it is of no benefit over a standard airbox with good panel filter.
