Default My next Question...Wow I ask a lot...

Hello once again,

And once again I come knocking on the door of experience, after mt last whoopsie with the throttle I have a new question shocker I know lol!

I have heard a new noise that I haven't heard before and think it may be linked to the turbo.

When driving along there is a soft woosh that can be heard under acceleration, hard or gentle it is there.

I have also noticed that the car is down on power, not a lot, but definitely noticeable, the kick that I was used to has left me, it is more like driving the likes of a standard TD golf or something the turbo just kicks in, there is no....wow there she goes factor if that makes any sense.

It is also the better half can notice it, so I know it is just not a case of me getting used to it, and besides the needle doesn't fire up as much as I was used to.

My mate seems to think it is air escaping before it should and therfore losing power, but the knowledge of you guys would be great

Cheers

Tommy

Yep sounds like a boost leak. Have a look at all the pipes between airfilter and intercooler.

Again, Tom, my recommendation, spend the money and take it to someone who knows what they are doing. You know who i recommend. the problem with asking on here is you are likely to get 10 different answers and none of them may actually be correct. it is very hard for any of us to diagnose your problems online. we can all give what "we" think the problem may be but unless you have a proper specialist stick his head under the bonnet you will never get a definitive answer.

Cheers

Sinky

I currently have the same problem, for me when the turbo hit full boost it sounded like blowing over the top of a bottle or a super charger like noise.

check the air intake pipe to your turbo, mine has a small hole in it causing the above (boost leak).

Im in the process of changing the standard air intake pipe to a silicone.

best of look

Yes mate, the car goes to a specialist now, I don't post here to try and stick my head in and have a go myself, it is more of a learning experience so I at least have a slight clue before I go down the road.
