classic impreza sport into a turbo
would there be much involved in making a classic impreza sport into a turbo model, just how much stuff is the same on similar year vehicles?

Many threads on this and the consensus is usually the same.
Almost all mechanical parts (engine, radiator, exhaust, wiring loom, ecu, rear drums, front discs/calipers, springs, not sure about the box) except the steering rack will need replacing
Massive high insurance cost for modified vehicles
You can pick up a tidy UK turbo for less than £1500, it will cost more than that to modify a Sport, and you will never sell it as for the same money the prospective purchaser can buy a WRX
Sorry to be negative, it can be done but it makes more sense to sell up and buy the real thing.
Good Luck

Ive supercharged my classic wagon, that was fairly cheap to do with good result, but not tweakable like a turbo so once you have done it you have to be content with it, runs 6psi but from idle, supercharger was from a mini of ebay for less than £200

lol not really i built it myself as a bit of a project, after turbo'in lots of stock N/A Starlet's to run low boost thought there was an 'in between' for the Scoob also, pulleys are the worst thing to sort dependant on what charger to source.
Overall result might not have been brill or as good as a turbo wrx but it was just different

I would imagine it to be comparable to running a turbo at 6psi but remember the N/A has higher comp to start with and a charger gives oomph from the off, so it definatley improved power/torque over standard but nothing spectacular, you can hear the charger whine but not much, not sure if it sounds cool or not, never really thought of it like that, for towing and general luging it made things much better and fuel economy hardly changed from stock
