The "different colour stickers" you've seen referred to on airflow meters apply to the earlier model year cars, the situation is different for MY99 to date.
There is no simple drop-in replacement for the MY99-00 airflow sensor. The only off the shelf options you have are something like the Infiniti Q45 airflow meter + having your ECU remapped to account for the difference in airflow vs voltage scaling, or an aftermarket MAFless ECU.
Why are you thinking of changing it? Provided you don't do anything silly, the revised version of the sensor Subaru are currently selling as a replacement part is pretty reliable over long periods of time.

i've noticed a slight change on the revs on idle. normally it's stable at 800 but these last fews days it goes under it a few seconds.
since i've never changed it and heard that they may fail, might as well change it.
so MAF for classics are all the same?! 99 and 00?
as for remap, just got a ppp recentlly. maybe when changing turbo+ic i'll have another ecu and remap.

Yes if you've had yours in a few years it wouldn't be a bad idea to change it - make sure you reset your ECU after fitting the new one. All MY99/00 use the same sensor, Subaru's part number for it is 22794AA010

AS performance or your local subaru dealer, these are not exactly the most expensive items out there (considerably cheaper than previous versions).
Tony
PS, dont buy second hand, you may save 50 quid to start with but it could go again and end up costing you far more
