Default cleaning wheels.......

hi all, just washed my car and found that i have a build up of brake dust and salt on the wheels (as i would expect)
anyway when i got the wheels i gave them a couple coats of poorboys sealer and since i have just used soapy water to clean them, which removed all the dust/dirt etc and left them like new again!
this time its like its baked on and the soapy water didnt remove it all,so i take it they want some more sealer!
my question is what can i use to get it off before i seal them again! acid cleaner, polish, claybar??????????

You could use T-cut. I used it on some awful looking second hand 16 inch stock 1998 alloys. With plenty of aforementioned elbow grease and several applications this did a spectacular job. Of course, if you have really nice wheels you might want to test it carefully first, but no ill-effects on mine. I used the acid stuff from Halfords and it did nothing special.

You should keep on layering up the poorboys every time you wash the car to avoid this. Hard work is the answer, and a clay bar may help - which reminds me, mine need to be done

i washed mine to get most of salt etc off before i used the clay bar,but yes it done a very good job!just had to use t-cut and rag to get into the corners!

i should think when i have properly done all four wheels, polished and sealed the they will look better than new!!

Hello Mate
I've used Wonder Wheels cleaner(get it from halfords)for years now and found it to be excellent, just make sure its ok on your type of wheels because it is very acidic,(they do a universal one now too which is for use on all types of wheels)i also use gloves as it stings if you have any cuts on your hands

try it and see what you think, you get a brush and container with it aswel
and i also have a bucket of soapy water to wash it off after, then i rinse with clean water and dry

Regards
Nick.

Surely it would strip off all your wax or sealant?
