Default newage prodrive exhaust help

i got a 05 2.0l wrx with ppp fitted and i want to make the exhaust a bit louder whilst still keeping the prodrive box and with out the need of a remap, any ideas what i need to buy to help?

can i get a hayward and scott cat pipe to remove the other cats without a remap and will this make it louder? or a little more deeper,

or am i better to go for a new cat back system?

Default ppp

hi adehook, got a 2004 sti ppp. there is only 2 cats on the wrx. Down pipe which should be a 200 cell cat, keep that very good and it will still pass a MOT.
The center pipe is a must to change, H&S very good company if i had the money. The sound will be a deeper burble. no remap needed but should give u 2-3 bhp.

I have removed my ppp exhaust and fitted a 3" decat downpipe. Engine management light did not come on and i got 9bhp extra. yours should be 2.5" hope this helps

Actually there's three cats on a standard blob WRX: one in the up-pipe, one in the downpipe and one in the center section (just after the downpipe).

The STI doesn't have the up-pipe cat.

Decatting a newage without remapping is asking for trouble IMO.

It's up to you but it will never run right and you are missing out on what it should be doing.

i fitted a h&s 3" bell mouth decat and kept the origional centre and ppp backbox, and the sound was absolute crap.

so i removed the centre and rear and replaced with straight through centre with loud back section.

so now i have straight through from turbo with a back box. sounds amazing.

its the only way my friend

To be safe in the long run you should always remap when removing cats. If its just a little more sound you want all you have to do is change the pipe from the 2nd cat and the back box to a deresonated section these cost about £100, but if your after something that's going to turn heads we will have to get rid of the prodrive back box and get a blitz or like.

i havent yet had a remap but its getting done, to be safe. but im not remapping until the rest of the stuff is on that requires a remap.

as said above, all depends what you want. but i dont think you will be happy with just a new centre and rear, the decats need to go in my opinion.

If its the sound you want why not just change the back box, job done.

Just remember that prodrive DO NOT make a loud exhaust system,it is an upgrade to the bog standard system.I had a newage prodrive backbox on my classic 2 weeks after i bought it,2 months later system was fully decatted and the system sounded no louder than my afterburner vortex backbox with the bung inserted. On the scoobyworld website the racebox sounds similar to the prodrivebox,so you could consider a ninja or a scoobyworld system if its loudness you want without being overpowering imho
