Default 98 sport induction question

as above i have a 98 sport, it already has an induction kit on it, but my question is is it possible to remove the entire black box and put the cone straight onto the throttle body. i have a scoop in my bonnet so surley this would be the best location for it.

before you start considering how to get it to fit and i am going to say no! and for one reason only "the weather!!!" that black box is on the top of your engine, any water in your engine and the engine is ****ed!!! intercoolers are water proof to a certain degree, induction kits arent! the induction kit would be like a giant sponge over your engine, would easily kill your engine in weeks, if not days!

They're not worth it - especially on an unmapped NA engine!

You won't tangiably feel any extra power/torque or anything - it'll just sound a bit throatier, giving the impression of being more powerful.

Also, as above, you run the risk of saturating the cone when going through deep puddles, etc.. which will momentarily bog down the engine, etc.

Cash is better spent on new set of spark plugs or replacement fuel pump or something...

...Or perhaps fashion a cold air feed - from the grille (high up out of the way standing water) - to your existing IK...?

what set up have you got at the moment ?

when i had my sport i fitted a k&n complete induction kit which removed the airbox housing and it had a tubular pipe from the throttle body direct to the cone filter near the wing

if you still have the huge black box on the throttle body isnt that still the standar air filter housing? which isnt the correct type of induction kit for a sport
