Default Bugeye turbo advice needed please

I've just purchased a TD05 to upgrade the present turbo on my my2001 bugeye WRX. I was assured that the turbo I bought, which came from a my2002 car would be a straight bolt on switch...BUT... looking at the new turbo its side entry as oppossed to the front entry turbo on the car. Holding the turbo up to roughly the same position as the existing turbo there dosn't seem to be anyway of changing or modifying the inducyion pipe. So, the question is, is this turbo no good for the car or can I get a modified induction section to make it fit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks,
Mike

by the sounds of it, it still has the 90degree elbow on it, the turbo will only fit after having the impeller housing machined/modified to fit, apart from that it is bolt on as long as you have the water pipes and fittings.

All bugeye's are front entry.

If my94wrx is right in his thinking, then it wasn't originally on a 2002 car, it must have been modified to fit it.

By the look of it I have three options, get a new front entry turbo, get a new casing or modify the existing casing from side entry to front entry.
Thanks for your help guys.

You can swap the compressor housing but in all honesty that turbo is off a classic and more than likely done lots of miles. Sell it and get yourself a VF35 or TD05 16G and you're away.

Only problem is then the injectors can't supply enough fuel to get the full monty from a bigger turbo so before you go swapping turbo's think about injectors as well.

If you go for the TD04 to TD05 conversion the oil feed and water feed pipes and banjo bolts should fit without too much hassle, just buy new copper washers.

Yes, I've modded a few WRXs' before. All have been Jap imports with decent bhp. This was the first UK spec WRX I've bought and it's a BIG dissapointment performance wise.
I've decided to modify the housing from side entry to front entry, apparently it's quite a common modification. I've got 550 injectors with a Walbro pump, a new ECU ready for the re-map and a FMIC. I'm only looking for around 300bhp with this one as I have a business trip to Japn next year and will add a few days on to go to the auctions and try and source a decent 02/03 Jap STI for importation. This will then form the basis for a decent performance upgrade

You wont need a FMIC on that for that power level.

Agreed about TMIC. At most buy an STi TMIC if money is burning a hole in your pocket otherwise the std WRX TMIC will do a fine job.

yes, will stick with an STi top mount as I intent to spend a lot more money on the import Sti Ra. Will be looking at 450 - 500bhp on that one.
