couple of OIL questions.
checked my oil today and found that i had nothing on the dipstick!! i have put half a litre in since my last service on the 2nd october and i have covered approx. 1400 miles since this service, it also took another litre or so of oil to get it right again. so this means that i have gone through about 1.5 litres in about 1400 miles. no trackdays, mixed road useage. and i would not say i hammer it all the time but sometimes i give it a bit of stick, no more than anyone else though.
so,
Q1. would you say that this is a reasonable amount of oil to use within 1400 miles or not?
Q2. what grade/brand of oil is best and where to buy it?
i have an 06 STI. cheers everyone, Lee.

Sadly as already stated as far as Subaru are concerned 1ltr to every 1000 miles is acceptable, and some do and some dont use oil as the fella above.
Cheers

When I started running that sort of output on my 06 STi, I found oil use went up due to higher crankcase venting.
Try adding an oil catch tank on the +ve crankcase loop and tip the captured oil oil back to sump. This showed up where the oil was going.
Not long after I started using 10W/50 and oil use is negligible until the oil starts getting a bit old (10k miles)
