thanks for the replys guys. reason for wanting contact is my scooby seems to be drinkning oil, only realised yesterday when i checked level, after changing oil and filter about a mnth back, the oils all nearly gone ! were talking last drop on dipstick ? doesnt smoke when running, puffs one small puff on start up from cold, not condensation this is oil puff, but once started its fine, pulls like a train, runs sweet as, but not sure its healthy to use 4 litres a month in oil ! and its a new engine, its now covered 30k by API new engine, clutch, turbo and flywheel so wouldnt expect too much loss.. any simple pointers i can check before running it on to a specialist ?
I will of course check the sump plug and oil filter are tight just in case, i think i will remove the under tray, was a right pain working round that with the last oil change.. it doesnt really do a great deal does it ? the i guess i can see if theres a oil leak..
cheers

well... after a few days of monitering i can confirm it wasnt as bad as i first though, allthough in my defense when i checked the oil level it wasnt showing any oil! bar the few splashes on the sides of the dipstick.. well I drove home carefully, slowly, and put what oil i had left of my oil change, so was about 1/2 litre, and left it till morning, in morning did a check, and magic, was showing normal, half way up dipstick marks again !! crazy, so drove to work, let it settle, checked, alls well again, checked a few days later alls well again, most bizzare.. i do have the hot oil smell after a hard drive in the car, but i understand thats prob rocker cover gasket, not major oil leak ! so i feel a fool, but thanks for the helpfull advice anyways im just happy its not a big problem.. but it has made me wary, i will check my oil weekly now !
