gearbox codes wot needs to be the same

To get the correct rear diff ratio, you need another TY754VNxAA (or AB). The only thing that can change is that final number, but, you need to remember that going down to a 1AA or 2AA takes you into the late classic boxes, which theoretically aren't as durable, while the 6AA onward (I think, check this!) has a different clutch and opposite sexed front driveshaft joints, so isn't a drop-in replacement.

Sorry to jack your post but I have a 1aa box on mine have just killed it, bought another 1aa to match the rear diff, i was told that there was a problem with 3rd & 5th gears stripping teeth with these boxes so would say a '3aa' or '4aa' be the revised gearset?
