so if its getting fuel and spark,

check cam and crank sensors are plugged in properly.

Do a diagnostic check as may help guide in right direction quicker....

How long was the "other half" running the car for when she started it?

It is possible that the spark plugs could be fouled up if the car was just left idling or not warmed up properly each time & this could cause your problem.

Six month old fuel is unlikely to be your problem & it would be quite a coincedence if a sensor had failed whilst it was not being used.

Think the maf sensor would stop the car from starting and put on the engine light on. it's not very common but I'd wiggle the cables and try to clean it up just in case.

Good luck
