Neither is a particularly good way to look at it. Also bear in mind that no matter how trusted your local village garage are, if they don't have specific experience of changing the oil on an Impreza properly they might inadvertently screw your engine up - see various threads on here about engines letting go shortly after an oil change, plus the ways of avoiding it.
If you can follow simple instructions, you'd be better off spending the £60 on some top quality oil, genuine filter, and a can of beer, and DIY.

If he doesn't want to get his hands dirty, the OP could always supply his own oil and filter (get it from Oilman?) and get the village garage to do the job. When they quote £40 labour, ask why it was only £20 to supply the parts! They would probably have used a general purpose oil that they buy in bulk and get the filter from their trade supplier.

An Impreza has got to be the easiest car to change oil (and filter) on
you hardly have to jack the car up and the oil filter is really accessible
I could do mine start to finish in 10 mins
(I didnt have the undertray on -- so add 15 or so for that)
