MY94 Classic WRX ECU EEPROM Upgrade Chip Qusetions....
Hi all,
Have just puchased and installed an eeprom ecu upgrade chip for my 94 classic wrx. Installed the chip, cut the J1 resistor and car is going great. Question I have is can you still do the diagnostics test with the black connectors under the dash? Does that all still work as per normal? Also will the car still retard timing etc if it detects knock? And if so, can you still do the ecu reset with the green connectors under the dash? Will it still work and would it harm anything like the new program?
Cheers all.

these chips have a bad rep from what i have seen i would be very wary of using it at all personnaly.
i would also be very wary in using the car hard, if it was mine i would be swaping that chip to a reputable one asap.
www.polarperformance.co.uk (website seems to be down atm though)

Really?
Oh S%#T!!!! Not what I wanted to hear but thanks for your honesty!! Im running it on 14.5 to 15psi. It seems to be running alot better than it was on standard, but it is early days yet.

Get the fueling checked at the very least
Best option is as diatch suggests, remove it and go PP, i've had mine on for nearly 2 years now with no probs
In short, you get what you pay for

Cool... Will do.
OK, so before I got this chip, I was running my manual boost controller at 14.5psi with a pnematic fuel cut defender... I know I know, not a good way to do it, but wouldnt this chip be a better setup than the FCD even if it is an average chip? Im just hoping I didnt blow 100 bucks!! What other bad stuff have you guys heard or is it mainly the fuelling that should be checked?
Thanks for your input all

imo it is better than the mbc/fcd combination as it's mapped BUT it's just a generic map that sooooo many people on Ebay are selling (they've downloaded it and slapped it on a chip just to make easy money)
It may be perfectly fine but as has been mentioned it needs to be checked out properly on a rolling road
