Classic won't start, does this sound like...
Car is a my96 WRX Impreza, parked up at my friends(car running fine) afterwards went to leave and it wouldn't start. There are the normal red lights but nothing out of the norm. It's got power as when you turn it over thats all good, not far off a full tank of petrol either.
Thing is I don't think I can hear the fuel pump....lot's of traffic so hard to tell.
We undid a fuel line going to the injector's (fuel in the line) but when I turned the car on no fuel spurted out? tryed turning it over and still no fuel coming out. Were thinking the 13 year old fuel pump has died....could it be anything else or does it sound like the pump's definately gone??
Any suggestions (ASAP please) greatly appreciated, thanks all, Gareth

Seems strange as there was no hint that it was going. Does anyone know where the fuse for the pump would be? is it in the engine bay or driver's side little box?
I'll check that tomorrow thanks. Is the Walbro the one to get or is there any better out there for that sort of cash (£70-£100). And also does anyone know if there easy enough to fit? gonna attempt it myself with my mate's help maybe Tuesday if it's not a fuse.

I got a second hand pump when mine died, and have had no issues since. From memory, fitting was pretty straightforward - the pump is under the little raised cover at the front right of the boot. However, to get the propper access to the pump, you'll need to take out the back seat - I think a couple of M8 bolts hold each part of the seat. The black connector that sometimes fails is under the seat so check that while you're there for signs of melting!

I know I won't sleep right tonight. Well atleast I know the thieves wouldn't be able to drive it away
Hopefully though my "eagle eyed" mate & family will be watching it for me over night

Not sure if something like the cam or crank position or coolant temp sensor would have the same effect (ie lack of fuel being pumped through when engine turns over) ?
Each of these sensors can cause non-starting problems, most commonly warm start.
If the car DOES start after a wait then it might well be 1 of these.
I changed my sensors in order - coolant, crank, cam, and only with the last one swapped out for a replacement, did my starting issues get resolved.

Thank's for all the info & help everyone, but all sorted now. Turns out our diagnosis of it being the fuel pump that had died was correct....who'd of thought it
I got a Walbro from Scoobyparts for £76 odd and it's all sweet as a nut today.
I unfortunately decided to try to get at the pump through my boot at first which meant removing my amp install....bad idea, realised after that there was no room so took the seats out of the rear & it was done in half an hour after that.
Car's running nice and survived two night's alone on a main road in Wales can't fault it, thanks again all
