How much do you like your engine?

If you keep below half a bar of boost then it should make it to a mapping session.

After doing my turbo I had a few gremlins to sort out..... by the time the JGM got to map it it had dialed in it's own fueling and ignition, but the boost control was all over the place.

That's a New-Age mind you.....

And yes it did go like stink.

LOL

i ask because 3 of the studs on my turbo snapped off when i fitted my downpipe, and the wastgate has a nasty rattle too, so i need to take it off to get them sorted, but im guessing its gona cost me around £100, so would i be better of puttin the money to a td05 or 06? but obviously wouldn't get it mapped until i could afford it, which could be some time. so the bigger turbo even on standard boost, and map wouldn't be a good idea?

I see your dilemma. You're in a sort of Catch 22 sitution.

I'd personally get the bigger turbo fitted (and any necessary supp. mods.) and mapped on the same day... and stick the expense on a credit card. Then pay it off later.

Not ideal, but it's the best thing to do in the long term, with respect to the health of the car/saving money if you want a bigger turbo anyway...

If you can keep your foot off the loud pedal, then fine...

Maybe safe to just run basic actuator boost (0.5 bar) but obviously this negates the reason for getting a bigger turbo in the first place.
