First stop, check that boost is being made and held as it should.

Have you got an erratic speedo needle? Does the lack of power from 4.5k equate to the needle dipping to 0mph? If so, that's the problem.

When the speedo plays up, the gearbox sensor tells the ECU to cut revs to 4.5k...

Or it could be, for whatever reason, that the ECU's decided to go into limp-home mode (although I think that's limted to 3.5k revs).

Why not try a simple reset of the ECU first, before invesigating further?...

DV could be leaking, what make of DV is it?
Does the car splutter or hesitate when it gets to 4.5k revs?

it just seems to slow down like if the boost has dropped and as for the dv it doesnt say a brand i just know that the last owner got it from pj motorsport

I've had a couple of dodgy batches of tesco super, car stopped accelerating suddenly around 4-5k on my 99.
I don't use it anymore, tend to stick to V-power or BP super if I can't get Shell.
Problem went away after I stopped using it.

Hopefully you've got enough leads to follow up.

Having the same problem with mine. But it felt like it wasn't going any quicker when on boost. Then I launched it in 1st gear and the clucth pedal got stuck to the floor and I had to pull it back up. Can anyone shine some light on the problem I'm having.

Thanks in advance.

Charlie.
