Default PERRIN Rear Drop Links

Hi Scooby Netter's.

Just thought i'd warn you all about the PERRIN drop links / anti roll bar links TSL are selling.

What a load of S##T!

Been on the car for 3 years max!, very poor design, waste of a hundred £.

wow, that isnt good!!

Perrin are usually known for really high quality parts.

It might be worth emailing them that pic to see what they think of it.

The car had been knocking at the back for about a month now, so I eventually got round to it and jacked it up last night after work to check all the bushes for movement, any odd gaps or any clean bits where one of them had been moving.

I kept thinking to myself "it can't be the drop links, it can't be".

Anyway after about an hour of checking with a big block of wood and a bar wriggling all the joints, i came to the conclusion that it cant be anything else, so i took the two 14mm bolts out and it pretty much fell to pieces. - Not a happy chappy!

"Jubbly boy" - Nope, dont know of any fords by me, i just use the car to get to work and on the evening, it's never been on a track.

Has anyone else had a problem with these drop links?

My perrin rear links still look like new, and they have been off recently while I was doing some other work. They're about 2 years old.

Conversely, the whitleine ones at the front are rotten and I would say are worse than those pics you have above:

Not the best pic but should give you an idea...

Yours dont look too bad, just a bit of surface rust. If you look at mine, the silver / chrome bearing where the bolts go through has almost fallen out of the top one.

They are just a really poor design, to have that sort of bearing joint which doesn't get lubricated - it's going to fall to bits. All the other ones on the market have rubber bushes.

The whitelines have the same ball joint. I get in and spray some silicon spray on the joint on a regular basis. I also have ball joint top mounts at the front and ball joint adjustable arms at the rear. All of them get sprayed on a regular(ish) basis, at least annually.

That may be surface rust, but someone on here has posted pics of where that surface rust has gone through and the link has snapped around one of the ball joints
