Default ecu remaping

How far can you remape a standerd ecu ie for more bhp,
i currently have a wrx ecu and in the process of buyin a ra ecu and wondered if i am going to get it remapped any way should i just keep my oringinal???

Unfortunately you dont give the year of your car so basically your going to be happy or sad
All cars from 1999 can have the standard ecu mapped with ECUTEK software, all cars prior to this cannot and either have to have the ecu replaced with an after market one (about 1200 quid inc the remap) or some can have a chip added (cheaper than the after market ecu by several hundred quid).

Whats the best way of mapping a 97 Type R? Can I fit a later ECU to it and get that mapped?

Lou, you need an aftermarket ecu unfortunately something like an Apexi or simtek should fit the bill
