Default Squeal when turning steering wheel...

Hi,

This is a continuation of a problem ive had for months now.

Just changed my track rod ends and the car still doesnt drive proper. Although better yes.

One thing ive noticed a couple of times, especially today after the car was warm, when stationary and i turn the wheel i can hear a sqeel.

Could this point to duff rack or pump? These are the only two things left to change..

Its not a squeel like tyre squeel or belt squeel. Sounds like fluid squeeling. Perhaps i should try some of this lucas PS fluid aditive stuff.

Sound like a one way valve or something has broken.

All the problems occured after a spin and hitting nothing (in a controller area not on the road).

Anyone heard anything like this before?

one more symptom i hope someone can answer. When the ABS kicks in the car lurches side to side. Not a massive amount, but enough for me to think its wrong...

check your pas fluid level .my friends did the same and the power steering fluid level was very low

Agree with terzo.......sounds like fluid levels low.

will do. I remember checking it before and everything was hunky dory. will check again and perhaps replace as much as i can with the pipette method.

Would low fluid cuase dodgy steering, is it the loss of power which could cause the dodgyness i guess.

Ill check it in a bit.

checke the PS fluid. Its perfect cold level and it looks clean/brand new.

Whats next? Worth Changing the pump or the rack or both? Id imagine the pump either works or doesnt? and thats it more likley to be a problem with the Rack?

What do you rekon/

i just fitted new rack, i had a clunk on sqeak on full lock.

looks like i can pick up a new rack for about 240 quid delivered.

Anyone know of any cheaper? America seem to do them for about 150 dollars

hi

i had simular problem i found a pin hole in the oil cooler it took ages to find you couldnt see it leaking as it was coroded under the bracket but it squeeled and felt kinda funny if you no what i mean . might not be but worth a look .
