Default Running avcs not connected?

I'm thinking of (yes still running working out what to do here!) swapping my bugeye wrx engine with a blobeye STi engine, if I were to do this but keep ing the WRX ECU the AVCS's wouldnt be connected and running, would this cause any damage to the engine?

Any help would be great to make my mind up!

Not quite an answer, but mine used to switch off due to Neutral Position Switch problems, and just ran ultra-smoothly, rather than the surge of power it usually has !

HTH

Thanks Dunx

I just really need to know if theres any long lasting effect to the engine as they arent used. Maybe in the future I can use them but the meantime they will be discounted.

Thanks

You can run it with the solenoid's disconnected electrically but you must have the oil supply to each solenoid connected- the oil supply is for the solenoid valve,AVCS pulley and the front camshaft journal on the Inlet Camshaft.

If you are buying a complete STi 7 engine, it should come with the rigid oil pipes for the AVCS tbh.

Couldn't you add an STI ecu (plus engine loom) to controller the lil' b*ggers ?

I thought about doing this with my classic and after speaking to Pat it is a simple case of running four extra wires to the ecu, to drive the avcs.

You have it easy as you can pop in the sti ecu, run the additional wires and away you go, I need a completely new ecu

Dunx not me as I have got the car parked up at the moment, having a little tidy up. Although I am getting the itch to drive it again especially as I have refitted the Blitz.

If you add the STi ECU then you need to do a complete rewire job with the STi wiring loom and its a biggish job that I didnt really want to do
