Default Is this scoob engine turbo'd?

Hi guys,

Looking at buying a scoob. the owner is not back from his hols till next week so i cant find out a great deal about the car.

Its a 93 wrx but the owner says it has an x reg version 6 my00 engine in.
I dont know a great deal about scoob engines so i would really appreciate a pro's opinion.

Heres a few pics to help you.

Cheers

well it has a front entry turbo on it which suggests that it isn't a 93 engine for sure,
the top mount intercooler is also off a later car as well,
it has the coil packs on the right hand side, if it was a 98 car then they would be in the middle.
It has a 2 port boost solenoid and a 99-00 header tank
so from what i can see it looks like it has come from a 99-00 car

He could be telling you the truth, it certainly looks like it imo

hth?

the bloke buys and sells scoobs as a living, he seems genuine and everyone speaks highly of him on the forum.

Here is a project thread for it.
Let me know what you think please guys.

99-00 have sensitive mass air flow sensors,if this becomes faulty due to that air filter set up,u could knacker it completely,i personally think that the 99-00 cars perform and run better with standard airbox and filter!(genuine subaru).the list of things to check are endless mate! i personally would not buy a scooby without full subaru service history.

yeah seen the link, wonder what mileage everything else has done?if there is no record of the cambelt being done,u would want to do that as piece of mind! personally mate,i would much rather buy a straight car with all the history from new with original engine/paint etc etc,but thats just my opinion.

If it runs then its had a fair bit of work done on it electrically as the ecu's for the early cars and later cars won't run each other plus things like idle valves are controlled differently on MY99/00 to MY93.
