Intermittent misfire?
My 96 sti has had a misfire for the last few months, no fault codes so expected coil packs, so took it to a garage with a set of working coil packs off a working engine yet still no better. The original coil packs were replaced which eradicated the problem for a few days but now the problem has resurfaced
I kind know the answer (a set of new coil packs) but I have since tried another set of coilpacks off a perfectly fine car and it's still playing up

Ok I had a missfire due to spark plugs
I would checking you gapped the spark plugs correctly- did u just plug them in or check gapping
I had similar experience where the gapping was wrong from new
When does missifre happen- certain revs or gears?

The exact same thing is happening on my05 wrx. I've chaanged the spark plugs but it's still doing it. I bought the spark plugs from Haldords but didnt check the gapping. What is the gapping for a 05 wrx?

hi bud,i have a sti 95year,had the same probs,i went for 3 week, one day it was great,i could do 100 mile, other times it would miss after 3 mile,i changed plugs,4 new coil packs, maf sensor...turned out to be the ecu,the coil driver had gone down in it...save your money not buying coils, see if you can borrow a ecu see if it clears...then spend
hope this helps
