Question Maf sensor question?....Please help....

I think i may hav a prob with my maf sensor on my 01 wrx.., Every now and then when i put my foot down to accelerate through the gears, the car seems as if i have a flat spot? I can hear the turbo spinning up, but it just feels flat.. then the next min or so later its back to normal. Also when i start up it really smells off petrol. I know that the maf can make it run rich if you have an induction kit at times due to the intake being a different size, Only im still using the factory fitted box.. So does anyone know if it was playing up would there be a warning light to let me know?....

Try just cleaning the maf with electrical fluid, spray up inside etc and make sure she all looks clean, car always runs better after that if you have different than oe filter installed.
