Default Sigma M30 keypad problem..HELP!!

Hi all, new to site and looked for past 2 hours at all threads regarding this alarm system however none have answered my problem.........ive just purchased a classic subaru impreza 2000 with this M30 alarm,i have a keypad with the * and # key (on the top of windscreen) as well as all the numbers however the problem i have is the keypad doesn't work, the red light just stays contstant ( doesn't flash even when a digit is entered) i have the original pin plus the new pin it was changed to but none worked, i even tried changing the pin if you dont know the new pin etc but that dint work either. both key fobs work and i have no trouble of alarm goin off etc cos i can enter the vehicle , its just that when the need arises i.e when i do get stuck nr a mast etc then i wont be able to input a pin on the keypad, i'm not sure if the previous owner has somehow damaged the keypad by pushing too hard on the digits, i cant see it being locked out cos ive waiting past 30 mins and it seems starnge that the light just stays constant, doesn't even flash when a digit is pressed, very strange....any ideas?

It is a strange one, cos they are normally in the glovebox, not the top of the screen. Maybe its a dummy. Maybe its been badly relocated. I'd follow the wire and check the connection.

The alarm module is deep behind the dashboard. Thats all I can say about that really.
There are a couple of fitters on here that might help you.

SS is the man to speak to.....

The keypad should be in the glovebox, the alarm controller is behind the dash, up under the steering column in a gold coloured (passivate coated) steel box.

Tetra radio tranmsitters can affect the fobs ability to communicate with the ECU (you need the later so called 'shielded' ECU that has a narrower reception frequancy which stops this), I swapped mine for one from a breaker with SS's (online) help - took about 15 minutes (note it uses 'tamperproof' torx bolts with the whole in the bit)

Red light on permanently is nearly always due to button damage from someone using a ballpoint pen etc.

I didn't really want to state where it was located exactly for security reason on public forum.
Thieves use the internet too.

You think a thief can't figure out where it is?, a 5 second look under the dash and you know, getting around it is the hard bit, not finding it!
