Arrow Help as im a complete newbie!

Hi all question time me thinks!
Basically ive been given a 1993 k reg import turbo free of charge, the catch is the engines no good! Im knowledgable enough to know that the 'bottom' end has gone? huge knocking noise gave that away!

My question is as follows, do i have a chance at replacing the crank, rods and piston etc or is it new engine time (not a drama as my mate wrte his of 2 days ago) im in a tight place jus now for spends having jus this week replaced the engine in my loveable fiesta (puma'd y0!) the engine developed the sound on route to work (i was a passanger) and the car has not moved since so i hope and pray nothing else has gone wrong! i hope to have the car back up an running fine in next month or two, finances permitting.

Any help at all will be greatly appreciated

Jay

Hi, if you rebuild it you won't need a map, assuming it's all standard.
The bottom end will fit fine!

To be honest, it's pretty easy, especially as your not re-building the block.
The engines easy to remove, the usual electrics, hoses, mounts ect. I did a re-build(2.5 conversion) and was supprised how easy it was.
One tip, this gets loads of people first time, make sure you remove the clutch release fork rod, under a blank by the starter!
There are loads of posts on engine building, do a search if you get stuck! Or, send me a PM, i'll help if i can

thanks man. only found this site today, never thought id own a scooby so never looked.and tbh everything ive read gives of that friendly family feel. the engine will be out the car before i get my useless hands on it lol.

we have fiddled with loadsa bike engines in the past, friends have lots of motor cross experience. so they seem to have a clue.

Make sure you replace the modine oil cooler & have the heads cleaned out properly, or you will be rebuilding it again.

The modine sits in between the block & the oil filter.
