Default First wrx purchase, help

Im looking at 2 wrx ppp sports wagons tomorrow and was just looking for some advice as to which one to go for if they are both in good condition.

1. 2003 52plate black 42000 miles full subaru service( needs the cam belt doing at 50k) 2 owners, aftermarket alloys in grey £7000

2. 2003 03 plate silver 84000 full subaru service to 80k and then mechanic who ownes it has done a couple of oil changes but its £6000.

Help and advice please.

for the extra £1000 I would go the lower mileage, if from a garage try to get them to do the 50k service before you have it that was what I did,

that's what my gut instinct is telling me, go for the 52 plate, its just the thought of then having to buy new alloys as well as the cam belt service.

As Daz said - it would be my option to.

Do have a good look at the service books though and see if they were serviced in time.

You can get second hand standard alloys for well under £200, or a swap for the ones on it which could be worth a bit. Agree on going for the lower mileage one.

Make sure the history checks out, and it's well worth a haggle at the moment!

From what you have posted it a simplified choice as i obviously cant see the motors but would be tempted to go for #1 and as jaytc2003 says, haggle Play on the cam service, go for 6 months tax and/or full tank of fuel, just remember its a buyers market . Good luck whatever you decide

As above prices too high for the market at the mo , haggle them down or keep looking its a buyers market at the mo . Some bargins to be had .

DEFINITELY NUMBER 1 FOR THE MILEAGE BUT WAY OVER PRICED LOADS OF BARGAINS TO BE HAD IF YOU ARE PREPARED TO SPEND THE TIME AND LOOK ON EBAY, PISTONHEADS OR AUTOTRADER.
I'VE JUST BOUGHT A WR1 2004 (04) 51K FSSH MINT WITH CAMBELT SERVICE TOP STEREO DEFI GAUGES AND COMPUTER FOR £9500 JUST BE PATIENT AND THEY WILL TURN UP.

well done, the spending now begins. I had mine almost 2 years ago and still plan changes for the better. Has been really reliable though and don't think I would go back to Ford again for my everyday car, they are superb if you get a good one.

£480 is expensive....i hope this includes tensioner,do not run it on cheap fuel! super unleaded or v power only mate! dont reck your new motor by skinting the petrol,if u are worried about petrol cost, then u shouldnt have bought a subaru!

UK WRX runs fine on 95 ron. just runs better on V power. I bought my car from a Subaru dealer and they ran all theirs on 95 even sti PPP cars. They assured me there would be no engine problems with this. I however stick to V power or super unleaded. I want to get the most from the car.

as soon as u get to around half a tank, top up to full with some nice v power. i do think that if u compare a tank of cheap stuff to a tank of v power or super u will notice that the car prefers it!
