VF34 to 18 or 20gram how much of a step up?
I'm running a VF34 AT 350BHP/333LBS/ft and considering an upgrade to one of Harveys 20gram or ST380.
I want a good road car with around 380bhp.
Has anyone made a similar upgrade and what effect transfered to the road.
I can understand the car being more top-end but did it lose something along the way?
Was it much different between 4-6000rpm or did all the benifits come higher up the rev range
Appreciate any views
Thanks
Trevor

With the 18g, I'd say i lost only a few 100 RPM of spool over the VF35. I didn't go with the 20g due to the comments of tuners/mappers and owners. The difference is only right at the top between the two and the earlier spool of the 18g makes it a quicker road car.
The car is quite brutal now.

I did a similar step up with vf35 to a 18g. The latter is a much more tractable turbo. In my car I think the spool was a tiny bit later with the 18g but it more than made up for it once spinning.

Trevor - if you were running the VF34 without methanol then I'd also say the 18g, but the gap isn't going to be so clear cut if you also abandon using the funny fuel.
Is there such a thing as a TD06/18g?
