Put your head near the header tank and listen to it it may be coming from it.
I recently had a similar sound and a little fluid loss (dodgy cap).
Pretty sure it will make that sound normally.

i have a problem with my coolant boiling after a hard run. i have juste fitted a 1.1 bar rad cap. will se if that fixes it. either that or my head gaskets are goosed.

Is it coming from like behind the center consol/glove box area mate?? If so could just be water running through the heater matrix. There was a simlar post on a couple of weeks ago and it turned out thats all it was, a lot of people hear it

Found it: https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...nger-side.html

I have the same problem, but the car's due to go in for the tappets to be shimmed up and the garage I use will have the rad off (again) anyway, so I'll get them to bleed the system. After all the car was fine after I did a coolant change , but since the had the rad off to do the cambelt I've had this problem

If benind the dash, then forget about it!

As already eluded to above, general consensus on here is that It's 'normal' - just one of the many Subaru foibles!

Just whack up the stereo
