well my car never smokes at all in any way,but if you get a real frosty night,it does cause quite a bit of condensation as engine is really cold,as soon as it warms up a bit, its fine, only sign i could think of is that the turbo is on its way out,i had a fiesta rst and that smoked bad on start up which was blue smoke as oil was getting past turbo seals.i would think its fairly normal if it happens in the cold but if it does it all the time then i would think that something is wrong!

if you were to go for a 10 mile run then leave it for an hour or 2,then restart, would it then blow white smoke?

Next time you go for a drive and get engine up to temp; when you come back, let it idle for 5 minutes. Get a mate to rev the engine after this time, whilst you check the tailpipe... If pale blue or bluey-white smoke comes out, then invariably it's turbo trouble i.e. thrust bearing on verge of failure.

I'm sure it's just condensation though - are the emissions non-dense white steam rather than the smoke described above?

Looking normal then.

Still do that simple test though - costs nothing.
