Default MOT time and Cat's...

I'm not due my MOT yet, but have just bought my STi and its all de-catted.

Now, when it comes to MOT time, which cats do I need to install so it will pass the MOT?

Are these parts cheap?

Cheers
Chris

It it's a classic, then it should pass the MOT with just a centre section cat.
You'll need to see if your decatted aftermarket exhaust system is of the same configuration as the OE Subaru one, to work out if it will fit. (Some aftermarket systems change the joining flange locations and pipe diameter)

If you are just fiting the centre cat for a MOT, you will need to get it red hot to pass the emissions test

A 'friendly' MOT tester should be able to 'advise'..

I agree with the above. Local club may well know of 'friendly' MOT tester.

As above!

my friendly MOT tester was testing my car, and accidentally put the emissions test sensor in the back of a vw golf that just happened to be running next to my car!!

needless to say my car passed with flying colors!

if you approach a small sized MOT test station and have a word with the tester before you book it in some might not be helpful but some will,
trial and error!

maybe phone a couple of your local garages first!

Yeah, I'm sure there must be somewhere which can do it! Will have to ask about.

Do you just bluntly ask them if they'll pass the emissions without any cats in?

No the way i would go about it is:
Phone them ask or make sure you are talking to someone who does the tests and say something like,
i have a Subaru with a full decat and need a MOT and really don't want to blow your Emissions sensor up!
got any suggestions!!

he will reply with one of the following:
yes mate bring it down sat morning should be fine!

or hey will say you need to get a cat mate bla bla,
then just say no its ok mate i am sure i will find someone to help and then try the next place

Thanks
