What 3" exhaust to increase power from 414BHP?
Over the past 12-18 months i have spent a hell of a lot of money on the engine in my bug and when it got on the rollers it made 414bhp. But after it was mapped i was told that the exhaust and air filter were restricting it from going that bit further.
Currently i have a 3" downpipe / uppipe mating to a 2.5" prodrive de cat pipe, prodrive middle box and prodrive rear box.
What would be the best exhaust to get my hands on to maximise the power of my car without going too over the top with the noise aspect of it. I dont mind it having a bit of volume but not stupidly loud.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Blimey......I'm running just over 400BHP on my bugeye and It's not the induction / exhaust thats the problem.
It's just the engine that might explode LOL
Your mapper should have told you what to do
I run a RCMS Header / up-pipe with a Janspeed STi9 copy downpipe coupled with a Revolution 3" exhaust (3" all the way)
On the induction side I have an RCMS jobby.
Just ask your mapper

My mapper did say, but just said you should get a 3" system and bigger filter.
Engines ok, stage 2 axis racing block capable for 500bhp on the internals. The other major problem i have is the gearbox, but cannot afford to change that at the mo. Still standard wrx one.

350+ is problem on 5 speeds, I know been there, with 414 expect gearbox rumble or vibration through stick before long - good times.
3" systems aren't as loud as people think but they do help power above 4,000/5,000. Mine now has a big kick from 4,000 like being on a 2 stroke again. Make sure its a true 3" system and not one with 3" pipework but 2.5" sections or slight restrictions, then map away.

You are lucky with the gearbox LOL
I broke two five speeds in a very short period of time and now I'm running a 6 speed
Revolution 3" systems are very quiet, as are APS exhausts.

The car has been mapped with the gearbox in mind tbf to my mapper. He has brought the boost in gradually through the rev range so you dont get that massive jolt when you change gear. Touch wood the gearbox is coping quite well, im hoping for it to last till around next summer when i will then move to a 6 speed i think. And im not going to do too many miles over the winter as the car is going to spend a lot of time being smartened up. Respray and dent removal etc etc etc. Then exhaust, filter and i got all my gauges and stereo system to sort out and fit.
Busy winter for me!!!

My Bugeye was mapped to try and keep the gearbox intact........I broke the first one by teaching an A4 S-line a lesson and the next in a similar situation LOL

3 inch mid/rear Miltek is fine - nice and quiet so good for Track use (I had HKS Hyper before.... that was way too loud for most tracks)
K&N - I presume someone is referring to an after market cone type not something like a panel filter? - You have to have an after market and ditch the panel filter crap
Obviously headers help a lot - I have GT2 Spec Gen (or maybe slightly rearranged number 2 in the list..........) which are cheap, good quality and include the Up-pipe and gaskets
What other mods do you have to get 414bhp? - obviously its not standard!!
