Newage coping with md321t.
Hi there i've got an 05 sti impreza and wanted to know if i can get away with running a md321t on basically a standard car. I've got a 3 inch fully decatted exhaust but wondered what else i will have to upgrade? I wanted to see if it would run without forging the engine. Also using standard top mount and standard injectors? Or are the injectors too small for this? Obviously it would be remapped and upgaraded clutch but will everything work? Is it pushing the standard engine too far, or is there anything else that you have to upgrade? Many thanks.

hi would need uprated fuel pump, bigger injectors, fuel pressure regulator dont need uprated clutch or forged internals, standard intercooler is more than capable of doing its job should see 400bhp 1.6 bar boost hope this helps

I would have a thought a T on a standard STI engine would be pushing it a bit in the reliability stakes . Depends how conservative the mapper is with it I guess.... if he rings the neck out of the turbo it might be touch and go.
I ran a 321H on a standard 02 JDM STI block at about 1.6 bar for a year or so without any issues, but I was always thinking this was borderline. A T is bigger again.

450 is unlikely on the stock topmount, 400 would be a more likely figure and achievable @ a moderate 1.4bar.
Turbo is perfectly capable but the rest of it may object to the boost reqd to make 450, circa 1.8 bar...

over 400 on the std block is on borrowed time i reckon. It's good to find out how much a std block will actually take though when well mapped and all working well.

simon,
I think you will find it also has something to do with the revs as well that bust the rods.
Question is, as a tuner would you stipulate the standard engine would be ok at over 420?

We prefer to give the customer the choice of how far to push it, obviously stating that IF or WHEN it goes pop they were warned of that possibility.
So far so good, all 3 are holding together well and although JD has killed his clutch, there have been no mechanical issues on any of them.

Wow so with one of these turbos i can see 400bhp ish on my prodrive 05 sti? that sounds fun, what sort of torque figures?
Im guessing my fuel pumps enough, so what else would i need? what size injectors?
