Am I right in thinking on a Simtek then that I could have/use the following;
1 switch to switch between 2 different maps
plus
1 switch to activate (mild) Anti-Lag
plus
1 switch to activate Launch Control
plus
1 switch to activate a "valet" mode (rev/speed limiter via fueling adjustments or whatever)
plus
1 switch for NOS (just thinking/dreaming of next upgrade stage)
So thats 5 switches in total!
Also do you have to fit an extra heat sensor to aid controlling/deactivating ALS when temps get a little to high?
Do you have to remove your DV to use the ALS option...I was thinking of having the second map to create some popping and F**tin' on the rev overun..

Also, with regards to wiring the switches, would you just have a volt free (NO or NC?) pair wired back to the ECU or can you just send a ground(0vdc) down one wire back to the ECU?
Cheers for help

lol.. 20 questions..
map switch either on a switch or by using the throttle and ignition off / on squence and the current map is indicated on the rev counter.
antilag switch yes
you can have a launch control on a switch or just enabled automatically when stationary and in gear.. ie. the rev limit is set to the launch control rpm when ever you are stationary and in gear.
yes nos swithc too etc..
the simtek uses an air temp sensor to check air intake temps..
both when ALS is on or not..
you can have a large number of different pops and bang options on overrun
depending on which map and whether ALS on or off..

oh and the switches are ground to ecu to enable.
the switches used are fairly personal to owners taste.. i tend to wire up to switches they have installed themselves already or wire temp switches so the owner can install to his own later..
Other neat options is ALS enable switch as the "bright button" if a UK car

If you want anti-lag, i.e. positive boost off throttle and loads of it, you will run the risk of turbo damage.
It makes me laugh that people say they want "mild" anti-lag and all they end up with is the pops and bangs with no positive boost..... that is not anti-lag in any way shape or form. It's just pops and bangs.

for anti lag, other than posing sake, to have any real affect it has to be set up pretty aggressivly, and thats what will kill the turbo, vlaves etc etc.
it your after pops and bangs then slight extra bit of fuel on the overrun has similar effect and doesn't do any damage, bar the cat, unless of course you dont have one

I just love the sound of the anti lag, It really makes me smile when I hear any Subaru banging like that.
I have to get my Ecutek tweaked in the next week or two, I wish I could get the anti lag to run

And would I have to remove my DV/temp' cap the hose off for the ALS to operate (my DV is a dual function recirc' and VTA at higher pressure type)
if this is the case I think I'll just settle for a bit of over run pops and bangs for a grin factor in the 2nd map.
I'm mainly interested in the Launch control option but seeing as the ALS comes with it at no extra cost I thought I'd see if it is worth it for a few laughs (not rally stages ).

I've just had Simtek fiitted and mapped by Bob Rawle.
The air temp sensor was provided by Bob and fitted to the TMIC.
I have two additional switches fitted in the car -
- one for the anti-lag, either on or off
- the other for the high and low boost maps
Launch control works whether anti-lag is switched on or off.
I'm VERY happy with the result

Is your LC switched as I wouldn't want it to be a permanent fixture as I may want my wheels to spin occassionally

I don't suppose you could let me know where to buy such a sensor.

I hope I didn't make you laugh as I didn't "ask" for mild anti-lag Simon merely mentioned that "mild" anti-lag sholdn't cause any real damage, I guess he put this suggestion forward in response to the thread title , and wasn't condescending like some folk hence I put in the "mild" in response to his post.
see between 0.2 to 0.4bar over vaccum.. (ie. -0.6 becomes -0.4 or -0.2 for example) tiny bit noticable on gear change but not mega.. more for the noise..
lmfao@condescending.. anyone would think he used to own the place

So, do I have to fit an air temp sensor then or is there already a factory fitted one lurking about somewhere
And would I have to remove my DV/temp' cap the hose off for the ALS to operate (my DV is a dual function recirc' and VTA at higher pressure type)

as you say the antilag we are discussing here is with regard to use with standard stepper motor/idle valve and no requiring extra gubbins to actually get positive boost and therefore have no brake servo assistance..

Oh yes, nearly forgot Simon, heres one for you
Thanks

You can also configure this using Romraider on the newage ECUs. Simple case of retarding ignition and richening fuel cells in the load areas the car will access on over-run. No performance gains though.

Ive known the spec c (twin scroll cars) were capable of anti lag about 3 years ago but wouldnt people just get a similar benefit from a full decat and a touch of overfuelling? (the pops and bangs that is )
