Default Do the fault codes till work when you have an apexi ecu

If I plugged the 2 black 'read' connectors together under the dash, would the diagnostics work if I am running an Apexi power FC?

Definitely not. Which is kind of irritating but on the upside you can monitor all your voltages etc if you know what to look for.

sorry to hijack a bit! Is there any way of running diagnostics on the Power FC? Mine has one fitted without the commander. I was told that diagnostics cannot be read via the usual Subaru ODB port or via ECUTEK.

I guess to diagnose sensor failure etc. when a power FC is fitted you could slot in an original ECU, fire it up (if it starts!) and read fault codes.

Diagnosing via the commander is a pain (although post above referring to voltages etc. is accurate - you just need to have an idea of "normal" readings.). Not everything will have a commander reading though.

thanks for the info, that's definitely a limitation of the Power FC and Commander system then by the sounds of it. At least the standard ECU on MY99's and later can be read via ECUTEK or ODB.

I was just thinking about this lately, as I've got no way of really knowing if anything is a miss. I guess the Engine Check Line might flash if there's a problem? I'm guessing most garages won't have the equipment to diagnose problems via the Power FC so I'd have to take it to an engine tuner.

Does anyone know if I'm likely to notice if the MAF or o2 sensors don't function properly or need replacing?

The PFC will warn via the engine check light if the sensors it monitors goes out of range.

You can then go to the sensor monitor display and it will highlight the sensor with the wrong outputs.

Its happened to me twice - TPS and MAF.

great thanks for the info. I've been looking everywhere for that information but it's hard to find out about the Power FC. I just need to get hold of a commander at some point. BTW, if the o2 sensor is faulty, will the check engine light come on for that?
