Default lots of white smoke!!

can you help my friend?? he is looking at a bumped 55 plate wrx, engine runs spot on, no leaks, no knocks... the oil is JUST showing on the dip stick.... on tick over there is a little white smoke, NOT steam... when booted it is in his words lite a Bond car, huge white clouds!! any ideas? the car is not badly priced, but needs to be a cheap ish fix.....

just had a thought... would a bit of diesel do this??

diesel wouldnt give you whilte smoke mate, it would be black.
white smoke is steam, mixed with exhaust, it would point to the headgasket.
Take the oil filler cap off and see if its very white on th einside of the cap, when the engine is running, feel the water pipes, if they are rock hard then they are being pressurised by the engine, which is bad.
The only other thing i can think of is to get a compressino check done.
It sounds bad to me mate, any smoke except a bit of brown on hard acceleration would put me right off.

no, been through all the usual head gasket checks.... nothing!! its not, NOT steam... doesn't evaporate, just keeps going up like a chimney!!!

Actually, yes, thinking about it, sorry, when my turbo seals on the mr2 went it chucked white smoke like no tomorro, especially on idle.
apologies for that, my mistake!! glad i was corrected though!

for the price the car is i think turbo re-build is affordable!!! cheers for all the replies!!

this makes sence that there is no oil left in the sump.... hmmm anyone got a turbo for sale??
