Default Help with Pistons!

Does anyone have a picture of standard JDM WRX pistons for a classic, I am trying to see if the pistons in my block are standard they are supposed to be forged but i am not sure, they look identical to the Mahle one's but is that because the mahle one's look identical to the standard ones LoL

If they are forged they will have a smooth surface inside. Where as cast will have a cross hatching pattern.

Exactly as ticky says, standard cast ones have cross hatching underneath, the forged are smooth. Their mileage/age makes no difference to this, as the undersides don't wear.

remove the sump & use a torch, you might make out the hatching?

No idea. Aren't they all forged? I don't think the standard cranks are considered a weak point anyway. I was under the impression that all classic EJ20 cranks were identical.

Not quite identical.

Some EJ20 have the Centre thrust bearing the later ones have the thrust bearing at the and of the crank, (bellhousing end).

all the EJ20 cranks have a 75mm Stroke.

Ah yes but mine is supposed to have a Billett one!
Quite how you tell is beyond me though
