Hello...Just joined this site as just brought an 05 WRX and know very little about it (other than it's great) and was wondering if there's a suggested best petrol i.e. Tescos, Vpower etc.

 

Most people swear by V-Power. Tesco 99RON if there's nothing else available. If it has the PPP then it is recommended that you always use the higher octane fuels. If not then you are OK with normal stuff. If you do need it and you're stuck, either carry a bottle of octane booster, or drive steadily until you fill back up with good stuff.

 

So don't ever use 95? Or just only if I have too?

 

always stick to Shell Vpower or Tesco 99. 95 Ron could give you problems with knock and could potentially ruin your engine.

Super unleadeds such as the above will be fine but steer clear from Bp Ultimate too!

 

A standard UK car will run safely on 95RON. You may notice a crisper throttle response with 99RON

 

Is Texaco High Octane any good?

 

mine runs best on tesco 99 ron

 

I believe Texaco fuel is the same as Esso Supreme 97 Ron. The fuel is fine though.

 

V-Power and Tesco 99 are the best, as for 97 ron 'supers' Total Excelium and Esso are the best of the rest. Texaco and BP Ultimate are the worst by some way. If you have one of the four mentioned forecourts near you go for that one.
