Very easy to do. Use a 3/8th drive socket set not 1/2in, Rachet, correct socket and 2in extension bar. Remove air box from offside and washer bottle from nearside. On a my2000 you will have leads rather than coil on plugs. Remove the lead and then the plug. Best to put the socket and extension on the plug first and then put the rachet on the extension.

I did mine a few weeks ago UK MY99 Classic and was surprised how easy they are.

I used the following:

16mm Spark Plug Socket
3" Extension Bar
3/8's Ratchet

The above were perfect, made it really easy to get them out. Agree with Turbotits about the airbox and washer bottle. Although washer bottle you can just remove the top two bolts and lift out of the way.

I used NGKPFR7B spark plugs but gapped them to 0.65mm as per recommendation by Bob Rawle.

Most say set them to 0.7mm but do check the gaps as they come out of the box at 0.75mm (well mine did).

If you have a standard car the NGKPFR6B's are fine.

Don't bother removing the washer bottle, do it from below on a pair of ramps (£5 at your local boot fair)......

I have access to proper ramp at work. Is it easy enought to do both sides from underneath?

Cheers

Easier to do from underneath as there is not as much in the way as doing it from above.

Still mate to be honest you should be able to do it from above. If you have ramps then its easier. Just remove the undertray.

Whatever is easier for you.

TBH I won't be doin it as such, a friendly mechanic at work has said he'll do it as long as it's a quick job (staying behind after work to do it, oil change/plugs/fuel filter before remap on wed.)

LOL best way I could describe it is - see how hard it looks? That's how hard it is! Not the worst job in the world, but much harder than it should be.

All it is, really, is I don't want to ***** off the mechanic at work saying it's an easy job when it isn't. He's staying behind late for nothing (offered him some money but he won't take it) and I don't really want a half hour job taking 3 hours up, know what I mean!

Some v. useful answers guys, cheers!!!
