Default Car will not start with a Prodrive ECU

I have just bought an ECU from the Prodrive performance pack for my MY00 Impreza. I plugged it in and when I turned the ignition on the check engine light flashes. If I then try to start it the engine turns over but will not start. It appears to have the right pink STi label. The code number is A18-000-D2P.

Should it just be a case of plugging in and it will work right away?

The person I got it from had it in a Forester but assured me it was the same Prodrive one for an Impreza. He told me where he got it and so its a Subaru breakers, I'll try asking them as well tomorrow. Are Forester ECU's completely different?

I was wondering that but most threads I have read say its only for the older pre 99 ecu. I have a spare standard ecu which is fine when I plug it in. Car starts first time.

sure it says in owners manual that constant cel flash with ignition on is immobiliser, see if your mate has the key still and take the chip out of key and put it in yours plus i think UK car immobilisers are different to others. try see if its thrown code 53 up sure that's immobiliser circuit (i think)

you dont need to mess with the immobiliser, its a straight swap plug an play! if it doesnt work then theirs a problem! i wud imagine its the wrong ecu because the code is different.

Thing is the person selling it tried it in a 00 Impreza before advertising it and said it was fine with that, like you say it just plugged in and started.

It should work straight away if it is a genuine Prodrive ECU.
It could be an STi ECU, if so the crank and cam sensor wires need swapping.
I wouldn't advise doing thath thogh because the ECU Map for the STI would not be suitable for a UK.

I can check it if you like, if you cover postage, as I run a UK, but also have an Apexi with swapped cam/crank, so I could try and fire it up in both configurations.

I also have a Prodrive Map on file so could read out the contents and let you know if it is a Prodrive or something different.

Thanks very much for offering to check the prodrive ECU I had posted about Scott.T. I was going to take you up on the offer but the person I bought it from is happy to take it back so I'll just do that I think. Cheers though.
