HELP!!! My car wont start! PROBLEM FOUND!!!
Ok
I went out to my car yesterday morning and it wouldn't start, i jumped started it and it was fine so i went over to my mate, then when i went to start it again it wouldn't start, another jump and i was off again.
When i got home i put the battery charger on the car and left it for 3 hours. i was off to the gym later and the car started 1st time no problem. when i came out of the gym the bloody thing wouldn't start again.
Now i thought this meant the battery was knackered. So this morning i bought a new battery for it, spent the last 15 mins fitting it and when i went to start the car......nothing All you can here is a click from the starter motor.
Is the starter motor my problem or is there something else i should check?
Prior to yesterday the car started first time every time with no hesitation
Thanx
Paul

Got the same problem, but mine only does it on the first start of the day!
I reckon on mine its either starter motor solenoid, or the alternators goosed!
Another thing, mine only seems to do it when its cold, when its been relatively warm in the morning (i.e above freezing), its not so bad!
I have to turn the ignition and alarm on and off about five times before it will start, but once ive driven to work its ok for the rest of the day!
Nice scoob by the way, but whats it doing with that spoiler if its a uk turbo, u prefer it or something?

COuld be something drainng the battey when its parked up mate..
If its gone down then somethings draining the battery. To check whats drainging connect an inline ammeter and see how much current is being drawn.. Pull fuses until it goes near zero!
- Charge the battery and measure the volteage
- Go for a spin
- Park up for the evening
- Check the voltage in the morning

UPDATE!!!
Ok, i cleaned the terminals but didn't do anygood, so i tried something a mate told me to do, he said to put the car in gear and when you try to turn it over give the car a little push, i did this and instead of just a click from the starter mottor it give out a sort of grinding noise, then after that it doesn't even click, is it fair to say that it is ****ed and that is probably my problem?

I had this problem & sound on another car though, not a scoob, but it sounds to me like it is the same. In that case the starter motor is your problem, most likely the brushes(or what they are called) inside the starter are worn out. If that is the case the car should start if you hit a gently the starter while in the same time somebody else puts the ignition on. I used a soft rubber hammer to hit mine until I replaced the starter

i dont have it quite as bad but if my car is stood for 6-7 days then the battery is flat as a pancake and thats with a new battery on. was told the alternator only charges the battery when there is a current drain on it, so its possible with dark nights and loud bass etc the battery never recovers???

Problem solved!!!!!
Ok guys
Problem is solved
Took the starter motor off this morning and put the jump leads on it and found that the motor is knackered, wouldn't spin at first, then it did, then it didn't. So it has an intermittent fault
Nowi have to find a new starter motor at a reasonable price, phoned my local motor factors and they wanted £180!!!
Thanx for all the advice guys, i'll hopefully be back on the road soon
