Default CEL code 22

Hi I wonder if somebody can help me.
My CEL light came on this morning and is showing code 22 (Knock link)

I haven’t used the car since I pressure washed under the hood 2 days ago although I did run it for 5 mins afterwards and everything was ok.
I didn't give it a strong blast just a clean.

Does code 22 mean the sensor is broken or could it be related to something else? Could the sensor just need drying out?
Where is it located on a MY97 STI?

I have reset the ECU and the same code comes up within 30s or so of very slow driving (under 2000rpm).

Appreciate help guys

its located on top of the block, under the inlet manifold. you may have caused something when washing it, i would take it for a long run and try it again after that, just dont thrash it incase there is a more serious problem!! someone else on here prob has better info

Hi I have given it a run out before I reset the ECU.
Is it the sensor directly under the throttle linkage next to the alternator? Single wire and about 22mm head??

Thanks

thats the oil pressure switch. the knock sensor is further back and has a bolt in the center of it holding it on. the code means that knock is being picked up, it could be the sensor but is unlikely, your using super unleaded arent you!

Yeah am in France so running 98 Ron Super. The light came on under 2000rpm so shouldn’t be knocking.

I thought the code means the sensor isn't working rather than detecting a knock?

Will have a look for it later got to nip out on a job now bloody customers

Its not in the easiest of places to change the sensor, by the sounds of it.

Well I have taken it off easy job really just take the intercooler off then use flexi extension.

It has a crack in the casing so I guess water has got in.
Will try dry it out seal it and see what happens but looks like I need another one.

Anybody got a spare one kicking around? Or know where I can get a reasonable priced new one?

Nah that didn't work so looks like I need a new one

Anybody know anywhere that can do a decent price on them?
They have them on Graham Goods web site but they are £117.67 for mine
