idle problem

idle problem
my idle seems to have a mind of its own, i think it's the idle valve but dont want to change it unless i have to? being a bit tight fisted

maf? yeah could be, was told they do give a few problems

Would help to know what year of car, some MAF's are very robust some are fragile.

good job when mine was foofed jase @ scoobybits had a spare for £25 then

well ordered a maf now, £98, think that is the problem, i'll find out tommorrow when it turns up, oh, the car a P1 year 2000

MY99 and MY2000 are prone to failure of the MAF, don't forget to re-set the ecu after you fit it, i would say it would be that on that model.
You can use the connectors under the dash or just leave the battery off for a while, this will reset the ECU.

fitted the maf, seems fine now, bit more responsive too, hope i get a few more miles to the gallon, thanks for all your advice!
