turbo/boost query

Default turbo/boost query

hi,bought my 1st subaru this wk end.well pleased with it so far.
but can you help me.on the way back on the motorway at 75 i floored it as the speed picked up and the turbo started it jolted before carrying on as normal
any ideas what this is?

can you be more specific?

what model,any mods and when it jolted was it like hitting a brick wall or was it like misfire or hesitation?

98 uk turbo.74000 miles.its not a big jolt.a bit like a misfire or something.once it as happened it will carry on as normal.
could it be something to do with when the turbo starts to spin.
when i put my foot down more gradual it didnt happen

could be coil or plugs breaking dowm under load?

try a new set of plugs gapped correctly first.

most likely the fuel cut it does this if its over boosting its normal you can get a fuel cut defender for 100 quid to stop it happening,mine does it if i floor it in 5th but as you say if you floor it gradually it wont do it.

If this was hitting fuel cut due to over boosting Yes buy a fuel cut defender if you want to rebuild your engine!

With over boosting normally happens when under the most load, ie 4th/5th gear at motorway speeds and you floor it. Fuel cut happens to protect the engine from this excess boost and feels like "hitting a brick wall" and only lasts for a split second.

Due to the way you have described the symptoms so far I would think that johnnyroper maybe more along the right lines.
