Is your CEL on?

Has a pipe come loose?

Have a poke around for loose pipes and connectors!

sounds to me like youve got a split hose somewhere check hoses going into intercooler and turbo, if turbo had gone you would be seeing alot of smoke from exhaust

Yeah, sounds like the hose from the turbo to the underside of the intercooler has either come off or split. As your car is an STI it'll have a decent hose on it so it may well be that it's come off.

i have had the intercooler of and can not find anything split but does it only have to be a pin hole to cause this?

i take it that the clip is on the turbo?

will my dump valve cause a problem?

thanks for the replys guys

yes the clip is on the turbo.

a dump valve stuck open could cause the fault
