Default PPP or Scoobyclinic PP1??

Hi everyone,

I'm about to take receipt of my first Scooby (56 Hawkeye WRX 5000mls) from Montys in Sheffield. The very nice salesman said when I want to treat myself why not put a PPP kit on (£1700). Then I found the Scoobyclinic website and found this,

Performance Package 1 (approx. 275bhp) Price
3" Stainless Full Exhaust System £495
K+N Typhoon Cold Air Induction Kit £285
ECU Remap £550
Rolling Road Time £100
TOTAL £1430
PACKAGE DEAL PRICE £1399

Greater gains, less money and after talking on the phone these boys really seem to know there stuff, they were so helpfull.

So my question's to you kind people are - what would you choose and does anyone know how it would affect my warranty? Scoobyclinic suggested I speak to my dealer, which I will, just wanted to see if I could glean a little Knowledge beforhand.

Thanks in advance.

Laura.

If you want the (remainder of the) 3 year warranty go for the ppp, if you dont want a warranty then go for the scoobyclinic one, its as simple as that really.

Welcome to Scoobynet

Its your choice, but you would have an extra £300 in your pocket if you went for the Scoobyclinic package.

Thanks for the reply's and the welcome, much appreciated, guess I knew the answer just a question of whether I have the bottle, or daft enough, to chuck the warranty. Then again I could always leave it 'stock' and wait for the warranty to expire before changing things.

Cheers.

Especially with the suspension strut issues some of us seem to have.

My advice is get the car past the first 2 and a bit years at least before you think about binning that warrenty.

I do agree, but how do engine mods compromise a warranty in terms of a known suspension fault ?

More power = more strain on all parts, hence it invalidates all claims, including suspension parts.

before any warranty work is carried out the ecu data gets downloaded and sent to subaru, also a visual check that all cats r in place as this is what mos ppl remove. Warranty is only if the caris standrd r PPP change anything and you cant get any warranty work carried out.

Stick standard for a while to make sure you get any teething probs like the rear strut(they all go on newage) then get the scoobyclinic. dont waste money on PPP.

hi and welcome i had an 04 wrx and if i got another id forget engine mods for now and fit an anti lift kit and forged rear drop links and get some uprated pads like ebc green stuff then you will actually be adressing the real problems with the car the handling will improve along with the braking which is much more important than straight line speed! then when your used to the car go for a turbo back decat green panel filter and remap forget the typhoon induction system theres no real gain from it and save yourself £300 mine was 283bhp with the above mods! oh and treat your self to a set of toyo proxy t1r tyres asap then youll have a real tool imho be carefull and enjoy..and have it lazer aligned by a subaru specialist...and you will need a walbro fuel pump as well..

yeah the CAI is a waste of money there's plenty of big power imprezas out there using standard induction, especially if your sticking with standard turbo.... Its just a way of SC raping more money outta ya......they should know better ;o)

Rear centre decat (£100), fuel pump & plugs(£150), STi panel filter (£50) and a remap (£400+). You don't need a 3" system the subaru 2.5" is quite sufficient.

I wouldn't think you would be far off those SC figures, but more importantly you have a better car thats easy to put back to standard should you need to make a big warranty claim.

PPP whilst the car is still under warranty without a doubt mate. Costs a litle more and gains won't be quite as great but not so much difference as you'd notice most likely. Most importantly, if things do go wrong, you're covered. These cars can be expensive to repair. When the warranty is out. You can go for a stage two upgrade and about 320 bhp.

the scooby clinic is a decat system, so i don't think you would pass an MOT or spot check on the emmissions without sticking a CAT on.

That said, you don't need to MOT the car until its 3 years old anyway? (never had a new car lol)...then again thats also when the warranty runs out!

Warranties = good
