petrol smell?

Question petrol smell?

heres a question for you all!

im getting a faint smell of fuel when i pull up and leave the car running not using anymore fuel than normal and cant find a leak anywere?????

could it be the auto choke as its been cold??

its normal....i only get that fuel smell if i fuel up vpower at shell....another thing could be, is the plate cover that goes over the fuel tank in the boot underneath the carpet, maybe a a bolt myt be loose mine was and after tightning it, it did reduce the smell on mine.....hope this helps

If its a PPP car, make sure they didn't screw up the rubber gasket when fitting the PPP fuel pump, like they did on mine.

Question

no its neither the plate or the fuel pump definately from engine area as when heater is switched on it draws the smell in! does this help anyone in diagnosing the problem??

sorry could not help it! you should check all the fuel lines in the engine compartment as some joints can leak and the fuel evaporates before you have had a chance to find it ie a small leak. i had it with a gti-6 i had once stunk of petrol inside and i could not find a leak anywhere turned out to be a fuel line join.
