Fuel Cut or problem?
I was out for a ride and the truth is i wasnt giving the car any rest. on my way home i decided to leave the car get "colder" and drove up until 3500rpm..when i found a strech of road i hit the loud petal in fifth gear at about 3000rpm.. the car (once started boosting) started accelerating rather normal until at 4500rpm about where suddenly the car hesitated a lot like i had hit a brick wall... afer a split second it wasok but i changed gear to and lifted my footoffthe gas just to be sure.. was that fuel cut, and if so whydid it happen? the car is a 06 jdm sti hawkeye running on 100ron fuel without any mods... also the outside temperature was 13celcius if that is of any importance... please help me recognise the problem as if it wasnt fuel cut then what could it be? btw when earlier i was at fourth gear and low revs and pressed the loud pedal the boost gauge read 1.7 when it usually reads at about 1.4 1.5ish... is that normal?

1) Were you going around a corner?
2) Did you have less than half a tank of fuel?
3) What exhaust / cats do you have / don't have?
Nige.

Possibly overboosted (1.7 Bar) due to the colder denser air coming into the engine..? Although the 13c you mention isn't cold. Last night it was 4c here in the midlands and that's when you notice a difference..
I presume later cars still have a fuel cut..?

in my country the temperatures is about 30-40degrees day and 20-25 in the night... last night was extremely cold by our standars and since the car was always running when outside temp was about 22 could that be it? i feltit like a limiteror something, like i had pressed the brake, and so i assumed it was fuel cut...

Charis,
Reason I asked those questions was that a few on here have come across this strange occurrence. It's been narrowed down in most cases to either overboosting due to decats or freer flowing exhaust resulting in the ECU spitting it's dummy or fuel surge (mainly on hard corners at half tank or less.
Yours seems odd then as it's a totally standard car...
I also got advised by a very respected source (thanks Mike) to check my oil level too.....
Anyone else shed any light on this...?

Charis,
I experienced what I think was fuel surge going rather quickly around a 180degree right hand bend on a quarter tank of fuel. Common occurence and a known fault at under half a tank of fuel apparently.
Come across these other possibilities after doing a search...
