any good fully synthetic oil from millers, motul, silkolene, castrol or mobil..must be 10w40, 10w50, 10w60 or 15w50 avoid all the thin rubbish

If you want a nice fully synth, and with winter coming up, go for a nice 5w40 rated, motul do one, not cheap but damn good dont run any 30 rated oils in your car though, not recommended at all!

Dunno where you heard that, the rating is the second number usually, say 30, you also have a 40 a 50 and a 60, personally I think the 60 is too thick to run in a scoob engine and dont normally go beyond a 50, a 30 is too thin so that leaves you with the options of a 40 or 50 rated oil.
The first number (for example) 5w40 relates to how quickly it gets up to temperature, a 0 will be quicker than a 15, but the thickness is rated on the second number, all mineral/semi synthetic and synthetic oils use the same ratings so a 10w40 mineral is the same thickness as a 10w40 semi and a 5w40 fully synth is also the same thickness, though as the fully synth is a 5w40 it will reach its operating temp slightly quicker than the other 2.
